Living Life To The Fullest and More Abundantly- updated 12-24-23
These are Jesus’ words:
“The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” John 10:10
We start Living Life More Abundantly when we take everything to God in prayer.
The scriptures give a Christian every reason to love life more abundantly. Psalms 37 is another one of those scriptures that concurs that a person who believes in God, The Father, and His Son Jesus has promises that will keep us positive in a less-than-positive world.
It still gets hard even with all the scriptures, and His constant, never-ending promises of love, and abundance, it is often still a challenge to be positive. This is especially true when we cannot see negative life things reversed within our spiritual journey.
Here are some thoughts—
It is okay to have down days (we are human), and we can feel a little worn at times. We have not reached perfection, so we have the scriptures to open, read, and grasp so that our doubts turn to positive revelations. When our view becomes a little dim, one must remember Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross. He knew within His heart the sacrifice He was about to make was without a doubt, the right one.
Here again, are Jesus’ words:
“Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again. v18- No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again.. This commandment have I received of my Father.” John 10: 17- 18
Our choices to live a Christian life are not about sacrifices. Jesus made the sacrifice so that we might have life more abundantly. *John 10 above.
Abundant life does not mean material goods. It does mean that He, Jesus will supply all of human “needs,” according to His will—spiritual, and physical needs. Needs are a lot different than wants, desires, petty dreams, or flamboyant wishes. Our most important need is a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. When we leave that out, we do not have much to stand on when thinking He is not caring for us.
When we are young we tend to look at life very differently. Happiness is very often associated with the abundance of “things,” and “possessions,” and often not about our spiritual abundance. We want to be more accepted in our society.
We want pretty things, nice things, and very often do buy those things. When we have lived a few years, grown a few years in grace, and learned the difference between material and spiritual things; we learn that happiness is not in having, or possessions.
“Happiness consists not of having, but of being; not of possessing, but of enjoying. It is a warm glow of the heart at peace with itself. A martyr at the stake may have happiness that a king on his throne might envy. Man is the creator of his own happiness. It is the aroma of life, lived in harmony with high ideals.
For what a man has he may be dependent upon others; what he is rests with him alone.”

With that said, here are some promises that the Almighty God has given, just in case you do not have the time to look them up or remember them. These scriptures will help you to remember His words when you need them the most and have joy and peace more abundantly.
Fear
“I sought the Lord, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.” Psalms 34: 4
The Poor Man
“This poor man cried, and the Lord heard him, and delivered him out of all his troubles.”“The angel of the Lord encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them.” Verse 6 & 7, same Chapter
Hunger
“The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger: but they that seek the Lord shall not want any good thing.” Verse 10
“The righteous cry and the Lord heareth, and delivereth them out of all their troubles.” Verse 17
“Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the Lord delivereth him out of them all. He keepeth all this bones: not one of them is broken.” Verses 19 & 20
Trust In The Lord
“Trust in the Lord, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed. Delight thyself also in the Lord: and he shall give thee the desires of thine hear.” Psalms 37: 3-4
Commit
“Commit thy way unto the Lord; thrust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.” Verse 5, same Chapter
Rest
“Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for him; fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.” Verse 7, same Chapter
Peace
“But the meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace.”
Salvation
“But the salvation of the righteous is of the Lord: he is their strength in the time of trouble.” Verse 39, same Chapter
New Testament Promises
“But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4: 19“I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” Verse 13, same Chapter“In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began;” Titus 1:2“If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.” John 15: 7“For God so love the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3: 16
