Daily Devotional – Love The Lord Thy God With All Thy Heart And Soul
A long time ago a friend and I were praying together and she noticed that I told Jesus I loved Him. This caused her to think about why I was telling Him I loved Him. This led her to think about why she had not practiced this within her prayers.
This is not bragging on my part but how we humble ourselves and give Him the recognition He deserves within our lives is important and is reflected in the Scriptures. He is our refuge and strength, our divine guidance and protection. His promises are true and He protects us when we need Him the most.
Yes, we love Him because He first loved us, but do we tell Him and Praise Him for His great love?
Scriptures For Loving The Lord Thy God
“Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.” Matthew 22:37 KJV -He went on to say:
“This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.” Matthew 22: 38-40 KJV
The book of Deuteronomy in The Bible gives us the importance of obeying God, loving Him, and having faith in Him…
“And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.” Deuteronomy 6:5 KJV the scripture continues us to teach our children…
“And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up. And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes. Deuteronomy 6: 6-8
The above scriptures have been quoted as written by Moses and his instructions to the Israelites about the importance of God in their lives.
Let us not be weary and slack concerning our praises to God, The Father, and His Son Jesus. Let’s make a habit of reminding Him that we love Him and give Him praise for saving our souls and making us whole.
Another faithful scripture is:
(A Psalm of praise.) “Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all ye lands. Serve the LORD with gladness: come before his presence with singing. Know ye that the LORD he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.” Psalms 100: 1-3 KJV
