Overcoming Obstacles in a Christian Life

Let’s be reminded that yes, there are obstacles that come to the surface when you are trying your best to live a Christian life. There can be hindrances that we create ourselves, or they may come from other sources.

Another important focus is that if you are reading The Word, you know that this scripture gives us warnings.

“Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:” 1 Peter 5:8

Many times the obstacles of living a Christian life come in “sheep’s clothing.” Matthew 7:15. However, that is why we are required to spend time with Jesus every day through prayer, reading The Word, and practicing what we reiterate to others. In other words, to live a Christian Life requires dedication for others to see and believe.

What Are Practices That We Must Maintain Within Our Life

Remember that Christianity Does not Save Us From Life Things, however, The Word of God has solutions, and methods and tells us how to overcome those things that set us back.

1. Spend time with Jesus Christ every single day. Prayer, reading the Word of God, and being mindful of how He has blessed your life. In essence- spend time giving Him praises for dying on the Cross of Calvery for all sins.

I cannot stress that enough for the dedicated Christian life. So often we spend our time working on things that have no bearing on our life in Christ.

We often become too busy, and too occupied with material gratification. We neglect and haven’t taken the time to focus and seek Christian maturity. What does Jesus Christ want for our lives to be more of an example?+ He works through us to help others see the need to become a Christian.

2. Study the Word. Are you living your life fully dedicated to becoming more like Jesus every day? Are you as educated in the Word as you may need to be? If someone were to question a scripture from the Bible, would you be efficient in giving the answer they needed?

Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of TRUTH. 2 Timothy 2:15

3. Gratitude: “Oh give thanks unto the Lord, for He is good, for His mercy endureth forever.” Psalms 136:1, 107: 1, 1 Chronicles 16:34 *and many other scriptures.

“In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God, in Christ Jesus concerning you.” 1 Thessalonians 5: 18.

When we are thankful for Christ’s blessings every day regardless of what is before us, we are telling Him that we believe in His promises. He knows the very number of hairs on our heads. He knows everything, and nothing surpasses His attention.

When you are thankful for what He has already done, and what He is doing, you will have peace. The peace that He is working all things out for you-that is best for you.

4. Look Within: There is always a necessity to seek the Lord to make sure we are not missing anything through His Words that we need to be doing. This means that we ask the Lord to “heal us from anything that would separate us from Him.”

Many times we may not even realize that we are slack concerning something that might be hindering us from all of His promises. The Lord is not slack…it is us who become weak when we are not pursuing to be more like Him. It is important to make sure that we are fully aware of how we view ourselves (not others) and our actions.

5. Stay focused on the present- You cannot go forward in your Christian life by looking back on the past. Remember your sins are forgiven and when you dedicate your life to The Lord Jesus Christ, He is faithful to His promises. He forgives and forgets. “Go, and sin no more.” is part of the scripture in John 8:11

6. The Word tells us to: “Seek ye first the Kingdom of God and all these other things will be added unto you.” Matthew 6:33, Luke 12:31 He knows your needs, you are ever present in His mind and he will provide those things you need.

7. Think on these things: “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.” Philippians 4:8

This scripture tells us how we should think and how we should live daily. When we allow our minds to deviate from this passage; we can become discouraged and become discouraged and lacking in our spiritual essence.

8. Remember that trials and bad things happen to good people. That includes the Christians. You cannot let the bad things that come to you destroy your trust in the Lord or your faithfulness to Him.

” The LORD also will be a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble. 10 And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee: for thou, LORD, hast not forsaken them that seek thee. Psalms 9: 9-10

“Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing psalms. Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him. James 5: 13-15

“God is refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” Psalms 46:1, Other scriptures are Matthew 11: 28-30, Philippians 4: 6-7, Matthew 5:4 -“Blessed are those who morn for they shall be comforted” and many more.

Summary

This is only a small precept of what God’s Word can give you about the obstacles of life and how to overcome them. When you seek the Lord every day; He is not going to overlook anything that you are going through in your life.

You may suffer for a while, but He has your back (to put it simply), and He is not going to forsake you or leave you alone; “He is a very present help in time of need.” Hebrews 4:16

He is ever-present, He is not forgetful, and most of all; He loves you. You must love Him back with all your heart and soul.
