When You Are Down To Nothing-God is Up to Something

“Last update 4-19-21”

Are you going through something that is causing you to wonder about the goodness of the Lord? Are you striving to stay positive and believe, have faith, and not doubt regardless of what is appearing within your life? It is human, and even those of us who know the power of God has these moments. The proof is in The Word.

“Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God.” Psalms 42:11

Where Do We Look For Comfort When Hope Is Weak?

We have all been taken by surprise in one form or another. There are life-things that take our breath away and devastate us.  As Christians, we are all still very human and have to deal with the ups and downs of life. However, His promises are true, even when it looks as if our faith is not working.

Though our salvation may help our anxiety when things get tough and seem to pile up on us, we become less capable of seeing that “this too will pass.” However, when you are down to nothing, trust God. He can, and He will deliver and help you in His own time.

Sometimes these are issues that we have somehow brought upon ourselves. Other times, it may be something that we have no control over. It really doesn’t matter the case here, it matters that we have within us the ability to go to the scriptures and try to see God’s deliverance messages.

Jesus heals, He sets us free, He delivers, and He is our strength and refuge when everything else is negative. Oh, I know you might be saying this is easy for you to say, you may not be suffering as I am or going through what I am facing. That is true! It is hard to trust God when everything is going downhill. However, this is where FAITH is tested.

This is where we must face the scripture that tells us that God: **Isaiah 55:9 “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.”

He knows more than we do, He sees the future, and He will not do something that is not beneficial to any Christian. His love is the greatest, most protective, and most divine.

Faith Is The Principle Factor

Faith and works go together. When you have always had faith and lived a Christian life, and everything falls apart, we may start to wonder where we went wrong. If we have been faithful, we can be assured that he is looking down and will not let us have more than we can bear. Faith is a rather large word and we often think we have sufficient faith until the unthinkable occurs. That is when we pray to Him to strengthen our faith and give us the courage to keep trusting Him.

It is often hard to sit and do nothing when things become complicated. It could be that if this point comes and one feels there is nothing left that can be done, then it is time to keep remembering that “He will never forsake or leave us alone.”

Still, if we truly TRUST God, we will overcome with peace.

SongWhen You Are Down To Nothing

He’s working all things for my good
doing the things He said He would
He thought so much of me
He was willing to lay down His life
so why should I worry when things go bad
seems I lost everything I have
’cause I know
When I’m Down To Nothing, God’s Up To Something

Now trouble came knocking at my door today
seemed all that I have was taken away
I tremble in fear and then I remember just who I am
I am the blood-bought child of the King
my Father in Heaven, He owns everything
so I know
When I’m Down To Nothing, God’s Up To Something

He’s working all things for my good
doing the things that He said He would
He thought so much of me He was willing to lay down His life
so why should I worry when things go bad
seems I lost everything I have
’cause I know
When I’m Down To Nothing, My God’s Up To Something

Now you may be facing a trial today
discouraged so bad that you can’t hardly pray
the enemy’s telling you just throw your hands up and give in
Now haven’t you been through this before
and when it was over were you not restored
so just praise His name if He did it before
He’s gonna do it again

He’s working all things for my good
doing the things He said He would
He thought so much of me he was willing to lay down His life
so why should we worry when things go bad
and it seems we lost everything I have
’cause I know
When I’m Down To Nothing, My God’s Up To Something

Yes, it goes back to our faith in God and knowing that he is taking care of the situation, not on our time, but within His time.

“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.” Jeremiah 29:11

“All things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.” Matthew 21: 22

“And call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me.” Psalms 50:15

“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for; the evidence of things not seem.” Hebrews 11-1

What We Know For Sure

As we know for sure and as the scripture stated above tell us; ** “God’s thoughts and ways are not our thoughts and ways.” Isaiah 55:8

There are many aspects of life that we may never understand. That is when we MUST trust God.

What to count on from God:

  • He loves you without pretense, and in time He will supply your needs.
  • Jesus Christ will NEVER forsake you or leave you alone.
  • He will go before you and make crooked places straight and cut in sunder the bars of iron. (Isaiah 45:2)
  • The Lord is a shield unto them that puts their trust in Him.
  • He has not forgotten about you or your needs.
  • God is the only best answer.
  • His lover passeth all understanding.
  • Draw nigh to God and He will draw nigh to you, and deliver you.
  • He is making every step you are making.
  • His angels are watching over you.

God Has All of The Answers – However, He Directs Humans In The Process

God has all of the answers, He knows what is best, and He knows more than we do about all of the issues within life. He sees the further, knows what the outcome is already, and does not want any person to suffer. However, sometimes it is essential to wait until it is profitable for Him to answer our prayers.

I am sure we can all remember from our childhood that our mom and dad did not always answer our requests when we first asked. They often waited until the appropriate time, decided what we really needed, and then explained to us the results if different than what we thought we wanted.

God’s answers are the best answers though we may not understand everything that He does or does not do.
