The Prayers of a Righteous Man
The Prayers of a Righteous Man
The Lord hears our prayers when we are dedicated to obeying The Word of God…post update 01-15-2024
Lately, I have been trying to make sure that I am living so that the Lord will hear my prayers. Yes, I know He hears them, but am I living a life He desires of me? If I am not, I cannot expect the answers that I desire. Christian prayer is essential to a life of faithfulness.
I do not want to be deceived by my thinking that I deserve anything from God just on my self-righteousness. I do not, I trust that I never will and I know that His word gives us an outline for our prayers to be answered.
I do not want to be lacking in my prayer life, and just take a chance that when I need Him; (which is every day) He will be waiting in line…as the song says.
All Around Us, There Is Controversy
In our day of what some people call progression (I would call it deterioration) or change in laws about Christianity; (can’t offend anyone who doesn’t believe); some things still ring true to the Word of God, and always will. We may not be allowed to voice our reverence of Jesus Christ our Lord; in some places that is, but we can pray, and we must.
When the human is suddenly faced with a need that only our God in Heaven can take care of; it doesn’t matter who is standing around, who is listening, or what their past is.
Sorrow of the heart for any reason that hits like a ton of bricks is usually the ultimate moment we hear the sudden gasp of; “Oh, God, help me!” Even though the person who possibly has never attended the house of God or ever read the Word of God will often at this point; call out to God.
God has given Christians powerful scriptures to live by and even told us how to pray. There is no excuse if we call ourselves believers; to be in a state of wondering if God is listening to our prayers.
From the Word: The Prayers of a Righteous Man
“Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.” James 5:16
“Now we know that God heareth not sinners: but if any man be a worshiper of God, and doeth his will, him he heareth.” John 9:31 (KJV) **He hears the prayer of repentance from the sinner.
16: “Rejoice evermore; 17: Pray without ceasing; 18: In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God for you in Christ Jesus concerning you.” 1st Thessalonians 5: 16-18
“If I had cherished sin in my heart, the Lord would not have listened;” Psalms 66:18 **David’s Voice
“He fulfills the desires of those who fear him; he hears their cry and saves them” Psalms 145:18
“The LORD is far from the wicked, but he hears the prayer of the righteous.” Proverbs 15:29
“If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me.” Psalm 66: 18-20
From The Word -What We Know For Sure…
We know that the Word states that God hears a sinner’s prayer of repentance…but will he answer us when we have called upon Him ‘only’ when we have been faced with something unbearable?
We must remember the thief hanging by Him on the cross who humbled himself and confessed, therefore Jesus said; “today, thou will be with me in paradise.”
A sinner saved by grace before he gave up the ghost on the cross. What more evidence do we need?
But, what else…The Prayers of a Righteous Man
I, for one, do not want to be in a position of wondering if He hears me when I call upon Him in need. That is why I struggle to be more like Him each day and seek to become and be as this scripture says:
“Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” 2 Timothy 2:15 (KJV)
I want to be in a position to call upon God and know without a doubt that in His goodness, and mercy; He will answer my plea. It may not be what I want or think I need, or when I want it, but hopefully, the answer will not be from my lack of praying and seeking Him every day.
Yes, we are all sinners saved by grace, but Jesus wants us to live for Him every day.
The only one who would know a person’s back story and heart; (like the thief on the cross)would be God, Himself. We can’t judge a person if in his sincerity, regardless of his past, prays a prayer of true repentance and calls upon God to help him.
Yet do we want to take a chance and rely upon God’s mercy and grace when we have each day to know that our prayers are being heard?
We desperately need to keep our prayers going upward every day of our life and live so that we know through His infinite mercy, that we are doing the best we can.
