What Does God Want From Us? Living a Life That Pleases Him

We often forget what we must do for God and expect Him to do everything for us. Right? Let us say, that sometimes we forget that the Lord wants us to realize our importance in a world of confusion, disarray, and sin. What does God expect from us to show that knowing Him is not a false belief and that God is real?

Many people wonder, What does God really want from us? The Bible gives us clear answers—God desires justice, kindness, mercy, love, thanksgiving, and a life that reflects His holiness. He calls us to live in a way that honors Him, treating others with the same grace and compassion that He has shown us.

God’s Expectations for Our Lives

1. To Act Justly and Love Mercy

God calls us to live with integrity and fairness.

In Micah 6:8 (KJV), we read:
“He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the Lord require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?”

Justice means treating others fairly and standing for what is right. Mercy means showing kindness even when others don’t deserve it. Both are essential in living out God’s will.

2. To Love God and Others

Jesus summarized God’s greatest commandments in

Matthew 22:37-39 (KJV):
“Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.”

Loving God means putting Him first in our lives, seeking His will, and living in obedience. Loving others means showing patience, kindness, and forgiveness, even when it’s difficult.

3. To Live in Gratitude and Thanksgiving

God desires a thankful heart.

In 1 Thessalonians 5:18 (KJV), we are told:
“In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.”

Gratitude shifts our focus from problems to God’s blessings. When we give thanks, we acknowledge His goodness and trust in His plan.

4. What Does God Want From Us -To Walk in Faith, Hope, and Peace

A life pleasing to God is marked by unwavering faith, steadfast hope, and inner peace. Faith cannot be seen, but it is viewed when we put everything within our lives in coordination with The Word of God. “Faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God. Romans 10:17

In Hebrews 11:6 (KJV), we read:
“But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.”

Hope sustains us through trials, reminding us that God’s promises are sure. Peace comes from trusting in Him rather than in our circumstances.

9 Important Things God Asks Us To Do

How Does God Approve of Our Living?

God looks at the heart and our obedience to His Word. We don’t earn His love through good deeds, but when we truly love Him, our actions will reflect His righteousness.

In John 14:15 (KJV), Jesus said:
“If ye love me, keep my commandments.”

Living for God isn’t all about perfection but about daily striving to be more like Christ-loving, forgiving, serving, and showing grace. As hard as we try, perfection is hard as we live in the real world. The enemy is always present and wants to intervene in our conversations, emotions, and prayer life. To keep in God’s favor we must constantly keep our prayer life in focus and try to not be lacking in the commandments of our Holy God and Savior.

Being an Example of Christ to Others

We are called to be lights in this world, reflecting Christ’s love and truth.

Matthew 5:16 (KJV) instructs us:
“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.”

When we live in faith, hope, and peace, we become a testimony of God’s goodness. Our kindness, patience, and compassion draw others to Him. To be a light we must reflect a behavior that is in line with the goodness of God. If we do not reflect God’s good works, His kindness, mercy, and love, we will come up lacking in the view of others.

Conclusion

God expects us to live with justice, kindness, mercy, love, and gratitude. He wants our lives to reflect faith, hope, and peace, showing the world what it means to follow Him. When we walk in obedience and love, we fulfill His purpose for our lives and bring glory to His name.

Let us seek to live each day in a way that pleases God, treating others with grace and being examples of His truth in a world that desperately needs Him.
