Christ’s Love Will Sustain You

Christ’s Love Will Sustain You When You Have Your Trust In Him!
A personal experience … updated again as the seventh anniversary of my son’s death is near 01-01-2026.
There are so many promises in the Bible. If we remember every promise that the Lord has given, our lives would be much more peaceful. My thoughts go to how we battle those life-things that take our breath away, and how important it is to remember to step back and “let Jesus” give us the peace He has promised. It is not always an easy task.
There is not a human who does not face the unthinkable at some point in life. We all experience the vicissitudes of life, whether we have accepted Christ as our Savior or not. However, we have the Lord’s promise that there is nothing that can separate us from His love.
“For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 8:38-39).
However, we must also remember the Holy Bible tells us there is nothing we will ever experience that is not common to man. Acts 2:44; Acts 4:32
How To Fight Those Things Which Seem Not Fair In Life
So, how do we accomplish a peaceful feeling in a Godly way when the ugly part of life takes the front stage? It is not always easy to do.
Being humans, we hurt and wonder why certain life things have to come to us when they do. No, we do not want this to happen to anyone, but when it does happen to us, we certainly view things differently.
My Son’s Cancer
When my son had cancer, there was no focus on finding fault, but one starts to think about what could have been done before the present. It was hard for me to hear the doctor say what she thought it was when I took him for X-rays.
When his full diagnosis came in, Small-Cell Carcinoma, it was again frightening. You lose the excitement of life, and the peacefulness is gone. However, after a month or so, when he went back and had the brain test, hearing that he had tumors on his brain was even worse, and even more like the end.
To be honest, now I can truthfully say that I froze. I changed forever, my thoughts, my emotions, my attitude toward life, and everything about me changed. Yes, depression filled my life. Even when you experience the end, year after year, your attitude toward life changes.
Those words are so cold that they seem to say, “It’s over, all hope is gone,” especially since he decided not to take treatment. He was brave, and not all individuals are able to do that.
However, my son’s soul was saved, and had he not had the disease, he might not have made it into heaven. Regardless of how hard it is to cope with, to know that he is at peace means that I also have peace with knowing one day, I will see him again, and all was not lost.
Scriptures For Comfort in Grief
- Psalm 34:18: “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are of a contrite spirit”.
- Matthew 5:4: “Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted”.
- John 14:27: “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid”.
- Revelation 21:4: “And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.”
Scriptures For Strength And Courage
- Joshua 1:9: “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go”.
- Psalm 23:4: “Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me”.
- Isaiah 41:10: “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand”.
As we search for answers to set our minds at ease, we need to remember these blessed scriptures. These verses tell us that He is always near, and they then tell us that the Lord will go with us, help us to bear the tragedies, and give us peace.
We, at some point, have to make a choice and try to have peace, as these manifold troubles test our faith and hurt our spirit. We are told that nothing can separate us from the love and peace of God, which passeth all understanding.
“And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:7
Summary
Every disappointment in life is not about death, as grief comes in different forms. However, the Bible has an answer for every difficult moment in our lives. It is where we can find peace for our weary souls when nothing else works.
We must realize that we are not exempt from the journey and seasons of life. Yes, we have many promises, and it is essential to put our trust in those promises that He has given to those who believe in Him.
