Daily Devotional-This World Is Not My Home

Daily Devotional -This World Is Not My Home – Author Mary Ingram
In the Bible, the word for Hebrew is to cross over. The Hebrew people were living in the land of Egypt under great tyranny, chaos, and bad government.
When the cries were heard by God, He delivered them. They had to cross over the Red Sea into a land that was not promised to them to live in forever. They were sojourners in a land that was not their permanent home
Hebrews 11:-10, By trusting, Abraham obeyed, after being called to go out to a place that God would give him as a possession: he went out without knowing where he was going.
By trusting, he lived as a temporary resident in the land of the promise, as if it were not his, staying in tents with Issac, and Jacob, who were to receive what was promised along with him.
He was looking forward to the city with permanent foundations, of which the architect and builder is God. Abraham believed that he would cross over to his permanent home by faith and trust, while the Hebrews crossed over Jordan into their permanent home, which was the land that God promised, Abraham, Issac, Jacob, and all their descendants.
Christians today live in a world that’s not our home. We have been delivered from the land of (Egyptian bondage). Yet we live in a land that’s not our permanent home, and we have to deal with evil, chaos, rape, and murder.
In The World Today
It seems that our government is only aiding the criminals and making it harder and harder for Christians. We hope that we have a Heavenly Father who sees it all and cares for us.
Jesus went up the Mount of Olives and prayed for all those that the Father had given to him.
John 17:14-19
I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.
I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil. They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.
Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth. As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world.
And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth.”
We have the words of our Father that we are protected from all the evil around us. This world is not our home; we are only passing through. Our treasures are laid up in our eternal home.
As Abraham said, “I am looking for a City whose architect and builder is God. One day soon, we will all cross over to our eternal home, all of us, which requires us to live a sobering life in Jesus Christ.
Shall we pray:
Our Father who art in Heaven, we are so overwhelmed with all the chaos and evil in this beautiful world that you created. So many have lost their way.
Your word reminds us that you have not forsaken those who belong to you. As we cling to this home, remind us every day that to live we must give you praise, but if we die we will live with you, for we know, oh Father, that this world is not our home.
When we are grafted in Hebrews and when we cross over Jordan, we will live with you eternally in our heavenly home.
In your holy name. Amen
